Jacqui Ertischek Lapel Pins Each piece of my jewelry is created with polymer clay, as well as other mediums including sterling, brass, copper, pewter, shells, and feathers. I start with solid colored blocks of clay and through a process of rolling, slicing and adding more colors, I create intricate patterned clay rolls. I then place slices of these rolls on another piece of clay and hand cut each design. Finally, each piece is baked, signed and dated.I have lived in Alaska for most of my life, so many of my pieces have Alaskan themes such as Alaskan wildlife and Alaskan birds, as well as jewelry reflecting the Alaskan Native culture. My most extensive collection is my dog breed pins, but I have not forgotten cat lovers with my wonderful cat jewelryWhether you are interested in a hummingbird pin,an angel pin, a polor bear or a Santa pin, you will find something wonderful for yourself or as a gift for someone else. Hand painted GicleesThe word giclee (pronounced ?zhee-clay?) is derived from a French word meaning ?a spraying of pigments,? and refers to the way the watercolor was reproduced. I start with photographs and digitally paint a watercolor. After hours of work refining the original watercolor, I print each image in limited editions of between 25-100. Each print (giclee) is then hand painted to enhance the colors, thereby making it an original work of art. |
