Kris Bliss is an Alaskan potter who works almost exclusively in porcelain with glazes inspired by the colors of the Alaskan experience. She now produces elegant, one of a kind pieces, usually with an emphasis on the vessel form. After many years of study with A1 Tennant at the University of Alaska - Anchorage, Kris opened her own Anchorage studio in 1989. Continuing growth and education in the ceramic arts has always been an important part of Kris' artistic life. Kris has had specialized training at the Anderson Ranch Art Center and Metchosin International Summer School of Arts. She has also attended workshops given by, Tom Coleman, John Leach, Sandy Simon, Toshico Takezeo, Robin Hopper, Phillips Cornelius, Jack Troy and Bobby Silverman to name a few.
