Mark Bartlett

Mark Bartlett was born and raised in Fairbanks, Alaska. As a boy, he explored the interior of Alaska by riverboat and motorized vehicle, often accompanying his father on hunting and fishing expeditions. Mark has been moved by the beauty and ruggedness of Alaska from an early age. Mark has lived all but seven years of his life in Alaska and has witnessed many changes in the state he calls home. “I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t excited about art,” he says. During his life, Mark has been employed as a logger, commercial fisherman, welder, and as a fiberglass repairman. At present, he resides in Sitka, Alaska with his wife, teenage daughter and their toddler son. “My philosophy on painting is simple,” he says. “A good painting should invoke feelings. Good feelings, I hope. Alaska provides me with an unending source of inspiration, awe-inspiring beauty that points to an awesome creator.”
