Naomi, from Eagle River, Alaska, hand-stitches and designs these whimsical ornaments that depict Alaskan life and heritage.
This child holds a yo-yo, a toy from the indigenous peoples of Arctic circle. Traditionally made from sealskin and covered in fur, in Yup'ik language it's called yuuyuuk, and in Inupiaq, igruuraak.
Most of the fur is rabbit in a variety of colors as well as a few trimmed with mink.
