Artist's description: Ice skating in Juneau is a joyous but unusually short-lived pleasure. Juneau winters are fairly mild, occasionally getting cold enough for skating for a few days or weeks. The remainder of the time, temperatures hover in the mid-thirties with or without rain. So what starts out as prime skating ice soon deteriorates into impossible skating conditions. For that reason, those few days or weeks when the ice is good, everyone with skates goes out there quick! 

I put my granddaughter and her yellow lab Bailey in the middle of the skaters.
