This is a drawing of the interior of the lovely M/V Malaspina. It was built in 1963 as one of the first Alaska marine highway ships connecting together the Island and coastal communities of Alaska and providing passenger and vehicle links to the lower 48 states through the Ferry terminal in Bellingham, Washington.

There are over fifty people of all ages included in this drawing, including passengers, deck crew, stewards, pursers, helmspeople, officers, and a few of their dogs. There are also numerous vehicles loaded with cargo as the people going to and from remote places bring supplies, toys, and freight with them.

In the background is the Fairweather Range near Yakutat, Alaska.

Tom Crestodina, an Alaskan fisherman, began making cutaway drawings in 2011 to conncect with his young son, Franio, while he was out at sea.
