Adrienne Stohr
I was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska. I have had a lifelong love for Alaska, animals, and art. As a young mother, I rediscovered my love of art. When I watched my boys create, it rekindled my own longing for freedom and expression. I am a self-taught, intuitive, process-based artist.
Every painting begins with a stream of conscious journaling base layer, and then a thick layer of intuitive colors and marks where I PLAY. I try to create from the same freedom my boys experience and follow whatever thoughts and desires come into my heart. These marks become the animals that move across my canvas.
I often think of my painting process as similar to animal tracking. It is an incredible journey where I discover stories and connections I never thought I would experience. Like our lives, I never know where the tracks are leading, but the path always reveals a story, and a journey to a wilder, freer place inside myself. I believe art is always trying to tell a story, inspire, challenge, and wake us up. I hope my art evokes this yearning, and inspires your dreams and connection to something wilder inside yourself too.
