Brian Elliot was born and raised in Ketchikan, Alaska, where he currently resides with his wife and children.
He credits his first artistic inspiration to his 6th grade teacher on one dark and gloomy Southeast Alaska day. He remembers longingly staring out the window and after making several complaints about the less than picture perfect day, his teacher said, "But look at how many different shades of gray there are!" His dismay was turned into delight and thus unleashed the artist within.
He works in traditional wood block printing and works mostly with black on white although some prints feature bold colors. His work is 100% Alaska- from the sea stars to the native trees of Southeast Alaska to the fishing boats.
