Artist's narrative: Like most afishionados, I get so entangled in the catch, bystanders wonder who caught whom. The truth is, I was hooked by my first salmon encounter. They were swimming upstream, tactically aware of their surroundings, tenaciously bent on claiming the next gravel bar. I watched them navigate through obstacles, distractions and threats, persevering in strong-willed determination to reach their goal. Unhampered by the past and unconcerned about the future, they embraced the gifts and challenges of each day as guiding beacons to the final destination. That experience caught and released the scales of wisdom I try to live by each day.
