Artist's narrative: The artist had been fishing Tree Point for several days, fighting an unusually strong summer Southeaster. The storm had dissipated during the night, and by daylight, heavy fog shrouded the area. This painting captures the moment when the sun broke through the fog and the fishing boats pictured rendezvoused after being scattered by the storm.

Ketchikan artist Dick Miller captures the marine landscape of Southeast Alaska through his watercolors of boats at rest and at work in all kinds of weather - bright sun, soft fog, and sometimes turbulent seas. His watercolors reflect his close acquaintance with the area around Ketchikan - the mountains, the beaches the flora, and the waters.
