Artist's narrative:
he crawled up on a mining barge
just down from Nome
two weeks old, hungry and cold
he sat there…alone
scanning the sea with hope filled eyes
he searched for mom’s warm heart
but in the mourning sky hope slowly died
wrenching their lives apart
when all seems lost and pain runs rife
a powerful force stands near
the spirit of love that inhabits all life
and dries the pain filled tear
scooped in love’s arms, the walrus is charmed
by strange creatures that feel just like mom
bundled and cuddled in the journey from harm
to comfort in his new family home
caring acts, by day and by night
stand by to heal wounds embedded by strife
inevitable clouds that envelop in fright
invitations to love that deliver new life.
