STANDING MOOSE ANTLER CARVING
An Alaskan moose exploring the tundra, carved from antler by Neil and Shari Medley of Unique Antler Designs
This freestanding unique antler carving measures approximately 7 1/2" wide x 6 1/2" tall x 2 1/2" deep (see Sharpie marker in photo for size reference). The white material in the carving is what the inside of natural antler looks like. The carving stands on an attached antler base.
Neil and Shari Medley met in Alaska over 30 years ago in a small fishing town in Prince William Sound. Since then they have spent countless hours in the wild observing wildlife, hunting shed antler and creating art from the natural antler resource that nature provides. Shari was taught the art of antler carving by her father, a master carver in Anchorage, Alaska, and has been carving antler for 20 years. This type of carving is done with a variety of tools similar to dental tools and drills. For more than 15 years, Neil has created lighting and furniture from moose, deer, elk and caribou antler.
