"Twilight at Refuge Cove" Located off the Tongass Highway near downtown Ketchikan lays a strip of sandy beach that stretches between the canopy of shoreline pines and the rock outcropping visible at low tide. Directly ahead and across the narrows are the mountains of Gravina Island. To the left the ocean squeezes down to the Tongass Narrows between Ketchikan and the international airport. Looking to the right, you can see the narrows opening up to vistas of the distant mountains.
