In China, there is a tree called the Empress and it is planted at the birth of a girl child. This tree has lovely heart-shaped leaves and because it grows so quickly, it matures as the child does. When she is eligible for marriage the tree is cut down and carved into wooden articles for her dowry. In legend, it is said that the Phoenix will only land on the Empress Tree when a good ruler is in power. Now you too can own a small piece of the Empress tree legend!
