Silversmith George Estella moved to Ketchikan, Alaska, in the early 1970s after immigrating from the Philippines in the mid 1950s. George credits his move to Alaska and the support he received in Ketchikan that anchored his development as an artist.
Always intrigued by interactions between man and nature, he found the northern landscape and Alaskan culture to be mysterious yet outrageous, primitive yet modern, and wholly compelling. His designs with gold and silver draw heavily on images of the sea and indigenous life forms.
Since 1987, he has divided his time between Alaska and the Northwest where the influences of urban architecture and urban life are emerging in his new pieces.
