LORI HUDSON

Raven's Charm Jewelry by Lori (Tallman) Hudson

I was raised in Ketchikan, Alaska. My husband Steve is Tlingit and Tsimshian of the area and we raised our two children, Hitsati and Catherine, in Ketchikan. I am adopted into the Raven Dog Salmon Clan. Growing up in Ketchikan gave me a great appreciation for all forms of art. This encouraged me to pursue the creation of Raven's Charm Jewelry.
I started making jewelry as a little girl when I first sold beaded necklaces at the annual Ketchikan Blueberry Arts Festival. Although my jewelry has evolved over time, I enjoy creating sparkles and charms just as I did when I was young. I have spent years beachcombing on local beaches and everywhere I travel.  Growing up I spent hours looking through tidepools, flipping rocks to watch little crabs, searching for the most beautifully colored starfish, unique shells, and the perfect piece of sea glass.   When I am silversmithing and creating new pieces, it brings the same peaceful joy as I find on the beach.
I am inspired by nature, the ocean and trees, birds and animals. When creating jewelry, I like to use turquoise, semiprecious stones, and sea glass from the beach.
The glass and stones I work with determine the shape and the size of each piece. The free form of the material inspires the design.
Thank you for taking the time to look at my creations.
