"ON THE RUN" SCULPTURE

Doug Hudson, formerly of Ketchikan, now resides in Bellingham, Washington. He worked for many years as a school teacher in Ketchikan before retiring and turning to his art full time.

A classic watercolor painter, Doug fell in love with wood carving after taking classes from native masters in Southeast Alaska. He then developed a unique way to sculpt using the techniques of knifework he had learned.  Doug's unique style was completely self-taught and original. Developed in 1972, he calls these pieces "sculptured wood murals."
